(LUBBOCK, Texas) – AAF Lubbock, a chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), has been selected to host Advention 2016, the AAF District 10 Convention and National Student Advertising Competition. The event will be held April 14-16, 2016 at the Overton Hotel. More than 90 professionals and almost 300 students have registered to attend.

“West Texas, and Lubbock specifically, is a hot bed for producing talented individuals who are making their mark on the advertising industry worldwide,” AAF Lubbock Club President Rico Vega said. “We’re excited to host this three-day convention that’s sure to engage attendees and inspire future advertising professionals from our district.”

The District 10 Convention portion of the event will serve as the annual meeting and convention of AAF’s District 10. The district is comprised of all local AAF chapters in the state of Texas, and a handful in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Keynote presenters from creative organizations such as Crispin Port + Bogusky, Yahoo! Travel, and Chaotic Moon will speak on topics related to advertising and marketing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend a number of professional and AAF chapter development sessions over the course of the convention.

The district-level National Student Advertising Competition will take place concurrently during the convention. Sixteen student advertising teams from universities across the district will pitch integrated marketing campaigns to a panel of industry judges. Winning teams will then go on to compete at the national level.

Representatives of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will be present during breakfast on Friday, April 15 at 8 a.m. They’ll conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony and read a city resolution about the event.
